Bodies of Woman (63) and grandchild (17) discovered in Ermelo

They both went to the house again and were able to get inside through a window, upon which they found the two bodies. They subsequently called the police.

ERMELO – A 63-year-old woman and her granddaughter of 17 were murdered at home in Emadamini on September 5.

According to the Ermelo police’s spokesperson, Captain Carla Prinsloo, the deceased were discovered in the house with apparent injuries to their heads and bodies.

They were covered with a blanket.

According to police information, the elderly woman was a domestic worker, and when she did not show up for work, her employer enquired with her relatives about her whereabouts.

One of her family members suspected mischief and went to her house to see where she was.

“The house’s safety gate and door was locked, and he approached the neighbours to enquire when they had last seen her. They informed him that she was last seen on September 3 and suggested she had perhaps gone to visit someone,” Prinsloo said.

The relative tracked down the woman’s 32-year-old boyfriend and asked him whether he had seen her or had the keys to her house.

“The man allegedly said she was not feeling well and had gone to the hospital and probably had the keys on her.”

When the relative called another family member who worked at the hospital to enquire, he was informed that she had not been admitted.

They both went to the house again and were able to get inside through a window, upon which they found the two bodies. They subsequently called the police.

The boyfriend had run away in the interim, but the community eventually caught him on September 6 at about 00:15.

“He was admitted to the hospital where he is currently being guarded by police after allegedly attempting to stab himself with a knife.”
