DAGGAKRAAL – Simphiwe Mkhwanazi (19) was remanded in custody after the body of Ellen Dlamini (37) was found in a shallow grave in a cemetery on August 11.
The police received information about this shallow grave at the local cemetery. Some body parts were reportedly protruding from the grave.
According to Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, a provincial police spokesperson, the body was exhumed in the presence of Dlamini’s partner, who positively identified her.
The body had bruises on the face, and a bone was shoved down the throat. Not far from the grave, some of her clothing items were also identified by her partner.
Dlamini was last seen leaving a local tavern with Mkhwanazi at about 22:00 on August 4.
After Dlamini’s neighbours became suspicious when they had not seen her for days, they informed her partner of her disappearance.
Her partner, who works in Gauteng, reported her missing to the police on August 8.
