Chrissiesmeer police arrests three men during operation on N17

The police found ammunition for a 9mm pistol, 10 cellphones, 33 cartons of cigarettes and three toy guns in the suspect’s possession.

CHRISSIESMEER – Three men were arrested in connection with the possession of unlicensed ammunition and possession of suspected stolen properties on July 12.

The trio’s arrest came after the Chrissiesmeer police were conducting an operation on the N17 between Chrissiesmeer and Warburton.

According to the information, the police pulled over a silver Chevrolet sedan and the vehicle was searched.

“Ammunition for a 9mm pistol, 10 cellphones, 33 cartons of cigarettes and three toy guns were found,” said

He added that the three suspects were arrested, and the police can not rule out the possibility of linking them to other crimes, including robbery.

The vehicle was seized by the police as part of the investigation.

The suspects appeared in the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on July 14 and the case was postponed to July 18.

They were remanded in custody and will appear in the Chief Albert Luthuli Magistrate’s Court next.
