Two pedestrians killed in two days around Ermelo

Two men were killed in two days in pedestrian accidents just outside Ermelo.

ERMELO – Two pedestrians were killed only two days apart in two separate incidents around town.

The first happened on July 7 on the Hendrina Road, near the traffic light at the Boxer Centre.

He was treated at the scene before being admitted to Ermelo Provincial Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Captain Carla Prinsloo, the Ermelo police spokesperson, stated that the driver of a Nissan NP 300 alleged that the pedestrian had crossed the road when he hit him.

The deceased has not yet been identified.

According to Prinsloo, he is approximately 40 years old, tall built with dreadlocks.

The second accident took place on July 8, on the N2 near the Acacia stop.

According to Prinsloo the driver of the UN truck was on his way from Piet Retief to Ermelo, when the man suddenly appeared in the middle of the road.

Prinsloo stated that two cases of culpable homicide will be investigated.
