Know your Ermelo Police Sector Crime Forums and overseers: Sector 4

Sgt Khumbulani Ngcobo and Sgt Mxolisi Nkosi are in charge of the residential area and the farms, respectively.

ERMELO – The Ermelo Police Sector Forum is organised into four sectors that work together to combat criminal activity in the area.

Sgt Khumbulani Ngcobo and Sgt Mxolisi Nkosi oversee the residential area and farms in sector 4.

Sgt Khumbulani Ngcobo is in charge of several areas under the sector, which includes Sun City extensions 32, 33, and 34, Nedland Park, George Botha Park, Nomndeni or Autumn Ridge, and De Bruinpark.

According to Sgt Ngcobo, housebreakings in Sun City, motor theft, common robbery, and robberies performed with a weapon other than a firearm are among the most common crimes in his area.

“The suspects we arrest in gangsterism cases are young people aged 12 to 30. The challenge with underaged suspects is that when a minor commits a crime, they can be released on bail to their parents and face charges until they are old enough to be sentenced by the court, and within that period they commit more crimes,” Sgt Ngcobo said.

He said his division had previously detained young individuals who were involved in a gang-related shooting that resulted in the deaths of two people.

He said sector 4 receives assistance from the community and the Neighbourhood Watch, which assists them by informing the police about crimes in the area, and expressed his gratitude to the community for cooperating with the police.
