Anti-bullying campaign held at Wesselton Primary School to stand against bullying

According to Const Nomcebo Msezane, the purpose of the campaign was to provide kids with awareness of different types of bullying in school and how to report them.

WESSELTON – The Ermelo police in conjunction with the Department of Basic Education and the community policing forum, held an anti-bullying campaign at Wesselton Primary School on May 16.

According to Const Nomcebo Msezane, the purpose of the campaign was to provide the learners with awareness of different types of bullying in school and how to report them.

“The learners were taught that the types of bullying common in schools are physical bullying, which is the use of physical force to control and intimidate a target, emotional bullying, which refers to actions taken by one person to maintain dominance over another, which can often escalate to harmful levels, and cyber bullying, which usually refers to sending frightening or threatening messages online,” said Const Msezane.

The pupils should report these incidents to the school staff so that appropriate action can be taken.
