ERMELO – Msukaligwa Local Municipality’s (MLM) sewerage outfall pipeline project at Extensions 32, 33 and 34 is under way.

According to the MLM spokesman, Mr Mandla Zwane, the municipality will spent R41m on the sewerage infrastructure project in the areas.

“The project commenced on April 22 with the establishment of sites. MLM appointed BTMN Engineers for the provision of the sewer outfall pipeline in July 2021 for the 2021/22 and 2022/23 financial years,” Mr Zwane said.

He added that the project’s purpose is to improve the quality of life for targeted communities by providing a reliable supply of sanitation with sufficient capacity for the current demand, thereby improving health and hygiene.

“We aim to uplift the community through creating job opportunities during the construction phase and to reduce current and future operation and maintenance costs by replacing ageing and undercapacity infrastructure.

We also want to promote health and hygiene awareness as well as the importance of protecting the supply system.”
