Protesters in Ermelo set tires alight amid water shortages and rolling blackouts

A resident forward an image of protesters setting tyres alight and barricading off the road.

A report of a protest on the N11 road towards the Ermelo Airfield surfaced just moments ago, 20 April.

A resident forwarded an image of protesters setting tyres alight and barricading off the road.

The resident claimed that protesters were demonstrating due to the water and electricity outages that they are currently experiencing.

Highvelder can not yet confirm this as the main cause.

Enquiries were sent to the Ermelo police spokesman, Capt Carla Prinsloo. Highvelder awaits a response.

Motorists are advised in the meanwhile to take precautions and, if at all possible to avoid the road.
