It has been confirmed that the unidentified man who collapsed on the corner of Kerk and Oosthuise Street yesterday, April 1, was stabbed.
An EMS paramedic with first-hand knowledge of the incident reported the man suffered a stab wound to the chest.
In the paramedic’s opinion, the stab victim’s condition is stable and with a good prognosis.
Yesterday, Highvelder sent an enquiry to Ermelo Police spokesman Capt Carla Prinsloo.
She confirmed that while she is aware of the incident, no case had yet been opened.

The provincial ambulance services rushed to the corner of Oosthuise and Kerk Street in Ermelo after they were notified that a man had collapsed on the sidewalk on April 1.
His shirt was blood-stained, but Highvelder could not establish at the time of publication how his wounds were inflicted.
CCTV footage obtained, shows the man in a white shirt briefly standing behind a parked vehicle and then he collapses.
In response to the man’s distressed state, the dealership staff contacted the police, ACSU, and EMS.
The Highvelder learned that a passerby, who asked to remain anonymous, witnessed the man walking towards the dealership from higher up in Kerk Street.
“He was having trouble walking, staggered and collapsed near a vehicle parked on the sidewalk outside the dealership.
“I approached him and saw blood spurting from his wounds and could hear him struggling to breath,” the man said.
According to eye-witnesses, the man appeared to still be conscious after collapsing on the sidewalk.
The extent of his injuries and his current condition is unknown.
