Smiles brought to Working on Fire firefighters’ children

The care package is a gift of hope and appreciation and consists of essential items.

ERMELO – Children of Working on Fire Mpumalanga (WOF) firefighters received Christmas cheer in the form of WOF Kids Care Packages recently.

Working on Fire Mpumalanga’s management, led by the Department of Social Development, had dug deep to collect and raise funds for these packages.

The care package is a gift of hope and appreciation and consists of essential items.

Apart from management and stakeholder’s contributions, WOF Mpumalanga also held a fortnightly car wash. The WOF Kids Committee sold food and washed management’s vehicles.

They also roped in the management of the WOF head office, High Altitude Project and the Kishugu Fleet.

The province distributed a total of 158 WOF Kids Care Packages.

Inspired by the legacy of Nelson Mandela, the WOF Programme, funded by the Department of Forestry, Fisheries, and the Environment, launched the WOF Kids Care Package in 2018.

Since its inception, WOF has collected and distributed over 7 000 packages to WOF Kids in all provinces the programme operates in.
