ERMELO – The Gert Sibande District Municipality (GSDM) successfully convened its inaugural council meeting for the sixth administration in its offices in Ermelo on November 25.
The council representation consist of the ANC with 28 seats (majority party), EFF with 10 seats (official opposition), the DA with eight seats and the VF Plus with two seats.
Councillor Walter Mngomezulu was elected the new GSDM executive mayor.
Other elected office bearers are councillor Busisiwe Sekhonde (speaker of council), councillor Trevor Nkosi (whip of council) and councillor Noliqwa Nhlapo (chairman of the Municipal Public Accounts Committee).
