Three men throw objects at travelling motorists near Douglas Dam

“The object is unknown at this stage however, it was thrown at a truck which burst the truck’s tyre.

ERMELO – Three men on foot were allegedly throwing objects at motorists travelling from Ermelo to Hendrina on November 9.

According to Mr Theo Craven, a control room operator of Acsu and district manager of SACCW Gert Sibande Region, said they received information that this was taking place between Douglas Dam and the Thusi Weighbridge.

“The objects have not been identified at this stage, however, they were thrown at a truck and caused its tyre to burst.

“An object also hit the windscreen of a vehicle travelling behind the truck,” Craven said.

He said the windscreen was damaged and the alleged suspects disappeared into Thusi Village.

Mr Craven discouraged motorists and truckers from confronting or chasing any suspects.

He advised them to reduce their speed instead, to ensure that the windows are closed and the doors are locked, and to stop at a safe place.

“Alert us immediately so we can assist you,” he concluded.

Residents may contact Mr Craven for assistance on 081 733 0032 or 083 716 1139.
