Suspect awaits next court appearance after stabbing incident in Ermelo

“Upon arrival at the hospital, the deceased's family informed the police that he had been stabbed earlier during an altercation with another Nigerian citizen,” Capt Carla Prinsloo, the spokesman for the Ermelo police, said.

ERMELO – Mr Chibueke Obi (40) is still in custody and appeared in Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on October 20.

His case was postponed to November 19 for further investigation.

This followed after he was arrested on September 3 in connection with murder and assault.

He appeared in the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on September 8.

In a previous article, “Ermelo police arrest man in connection with murder and assault”, it was stated that members of the police were informed that a Nigerian man had died in the Ermelo

Provincial Hospital on September 3 at about 15:00.

“He was stabbed in the right shoulder.

“Upon arrival at the hospital, the deceased’s family informed the police that he had been stabbed earlier during an altercation with another Nigerian citizen,” Capt Carla Prinsloo, the spokesman for the Ermelo police, said.

The family showed the police where the suspect stayed and he was arrested.
