A 24-year-old woman was recently attacked by her boyfriend with a panga at Jassivale, near Warburton.
According to Const Patience Ngozo, spokesman for Chrissiesmeer Police, they received a domestic violence complaint on 3 July.
“Upon arrival at the scene the police found the woman on the ground with stab wounds to her head and the panga next to her.”
Const Ngozo added that according to the information that they received from the family, the woman’s boyfriend (44) came to her house and the two got involved in an argument.
The police went to the suspect’s house to arrest him, only to find the door locked with no one responding to their calls.
They decided to force the door open and found the man hanging from a wire.
He was declared dead by Carolina EMS and police do not suspect any foul play regarding his death.
The woman was admitted to Carolina Hospital.
Const Ngozo urged the community to report all domestic violence cases promptly.
