Mpumalanga Police Choir donates face masks to primary schools

Lothair Primary School was identified as the first beneficiary and the first 123 face masks were delivered for the Grade 7 learners who had resumed schooling.

The Mpumalanga Police Choir has over the years been committed to Project Harmony, a social project of the Police Music and Cultural Association (POLMUSCA), which focuses on the engagement between the police and local communities.

As the world faces the Covid-19 pandemic, the choir has embarked on a face mask project for school learners.

Lothair Primary School was identified as the first beneficiary and the first 123 face masks were delivered for the Grade 7 learners who had resumed schooling.

Brig LM Mtungwa, the Ermelo Cluster Commander, recently handed over the masks to the school’s principal Mr VR Nkumane.

Const Bathobile Khumalo, spokesperson for Lothair Police added that the masks were custom made in maroon, which is the colour of the school’s uniform.

She said: “Part of the initiative is to motivate the learner’s self-esteem by making the same mask for every learner.”
