Department of Defence warns businesses against scammers pretending to be representatives requesting PPE

“It must be noted that all requirements by the South African National Defence Force are procured through the official DoD procurement processes.”

The Department of Defence (DoD) has warned businesses against opportunistic scammers taking advantage of the Covid-19 pandemic by pretending to be representatives of the DoD requesting personal protective equipment.

Their ploy is to have face masks and gloves delivered at the offices of the department.

Businesses are warned not to be susceptible to fraudulent tender requirements which are not from the DoD.

Mr Siphiwe Dlamini, head of communications for the department, stated in the press release: “You are urged to verify any request with the Central Procurement Service Centre, based in Thaba Tshwane for the authenticity of such.

“It must be noted that all requirements by the South African National Defence Force are procured through the official DoD procurement processes.”
