According to the post, the South African Post Office's social grants payments function is an essential service and among the categories exempted from the nationwide lockdown.

Gert Sibande District Municipality shared a post on their Facebook page from the South African Government about post offices remaining open during the national lockdown, on 27 March.

“Therefore, all SASSA paying branch outlets will remain open as normal during 21-day Nationwide Covid-19 Lockdown.”
