Ermelo Police arrest four people for not adhering to lockdown regulations

“One of them was not a registered liquor trader and was illegally selling liquor from his house in Extention 6 Wesselton.

Ermelo Police arrested four people for not adhering to the rules and regulations of the lockdown that was implemented by President Cyril Ramaphosa.

According to Capt Carla Prinsloo, spokesman of Ermelo Police, two people were arrested for contravening the regulations in terms of the Disaster Management Act on 28 March.

“One of them was not a registered liquor trader and was illegally selling liquor from his house in Extention 6 Wesselton.

“The second person is a registered trader, but he was selling liquor illegally from his house in Extention 33.”

They appeared in Ermelo Magistrate Court on 30 March, however, the case was postponed.

Two other people were arrested on 30 March.

Capt Prinsloo, said: “The first person was found wandering about outside late in the evening in Emadamini.

“The second was arrested for selling non-essential goods during the national lockdown.”

Capt Prinsloo believes they might appear in court on 31 March.
