Police give feedback on first day of lockdown in and around Ermelo

Police were stopping residents and making sure they followed the rules and regulations put in place during the lockdown.

Ermelo Police, as well as police from surrounding towns, gave updates on the first day of lockdown and whether residents complied with lockdown rules and regulations.

According to Capt Carla Prinsloo, spokesman of Ermelo police, residents left their homes to go to the supermarkets and pharmacies to pick up essentials.

Police were stopping residents and making sure they followed the rules and regulations put in place during the lockdown.

“Police are monitoring the situation.”

Const. Patience Ngozo, the spokesman of Chrissiesmeer Police, said: “Earlier during the day, it seemed like some of the residents did not know what was expected of them.

“However, taverns are now closed and residents are complying with instructions, rules and regulations.”

According to Sgt. Thabang Mokwana, spokesman of Carolina Police, patrols around town and the location were conducted and most residents were complying.

Sgt Mokwana said: “Only those going to the hospital and grocery stores were seen in the streets.”
