Man shot in the leg during alleged farm attack near Lothair hours before lockdown

According to information received, he was travelling towards Ermelo when he collided into the back of a truck.

26 March – 9.52pm

A man was attacked on a farm between Ermelo and Lothair at about 6pm on 26 March.

According to Mr Henry Geldenhuys, Farm coordinator and member of the Transvaal Agricultural Union of South Africa, the victim was alone on the farm when the attack occurred.

“They shot the victim in the leg and after they fled, he got into his bakkie to look for help.”

According to information received, he was travelling towards Ermelo when he collided into the back of a truck.

He was eventually transported by ER24 to Ermelo and is apparently now being transported to the Unitas Hospital in Pretoria.

Capt Carla Prinsloo, the spokesman for Ermelo Police, said: “Lothair Police is currently on the scene establishing the facts and are investigating a case of attempted murder.”

Information about the victim and the extent of his injuries, as well as his current condition, are not yet known.

It could also not be ascertained whether anything was amiss from the farm or how many attackers were involved.
