Carolina Police apprehends alleged stock thief

The police found meat in his vehicle and later discovered that it came from two cows that were recently reported missing by Mr VJ Roos from Nooitgedacht Farm.

A stock theft suspect appeared in the Carolina Magistrate’s Court on 9 February and was released on R3 000 bail.

The suspect, Mr Mayaba Perserverance (25) was arrested in Carolina on 8 March, after he fled from the police.

According to Sgt Thabang Mokwana, spokesman for Carolina Police, Mr Perserverance lost control of his vehicle and it overturned.

He then continued to flee on foot.

The police found meat in his vehicle and later discovered that it was from two cows that were recently reported missing by Mr VJ Roos from Nooitgedacht Farm.

His case was postponed to 20 April for further investigation.

Sgt Mokwana said: “Stock theft is one of Carolina’s problematic crimes and the community is advised to stop stealing cows and sheep and to not buy meat from street vendors.”
