Couple arrested for alleged murder of four-month-old baby

Their findings indicated that the child suffered fractures to his skull and that he had broken ribs and a broken neck.

A couple from Davel was recently arrested in Tulbagh in Cape Town in connection with the murder of their four-month-old baby boy, Amuhelani Nazo in March 2019.

According to Const Portia Dhladhla, spokesman for Davel Police, it was first reported that Amuhelani fell from the bed while the couple was fighting.

However, his body was taken to the mortuary in Bethal for a post-mortem.

Their findings indicated that the child suffered fractures to his skull and that he had broken ribs and a broken neck.

The couple aged 30 and 26, fled from the police.

Information was received about their whereabouts and Davel Police members, Capt Lawrence Thipe, Sgt Sipho Ndlovu, Sgt Patrick Nhlanhla and Cst Themba Mtshali travelled to Cape Town, where the couple was tracked down and arrested.

They first appeared in Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on 10 February for profiling.
