Bambanani Village needs help to rebuild after houses collapse

According to Mr Bruce Campbell, who are involved in helping the community of Bambanani, they also need fresh cow dung for their walls.

The residents of Bambanani Village on the Piet Retief road are rebuilding their houses after heavy rain caused their mud homes to collapse.

They are rebuilding their homes with sand, sticks and mud and are in need of long straight sticks for their walls.

According to Mr Bruce Campbell, who are involved in helping the community of Bambanani, they also need fresh cow dung for the walls.

Mr Campbell said: “I realise that this is not a standard request, because how many people ask for dung, but they are keen to complete the rebuilding and settle in before Christmas.”

He added that they are seeking money to hire a TLB for about five days to deliver clay and sand to the houses that still need it.

The residents of Bambanani want to continue the tradition of a Christmas meal for the people of the village on 25 December.

This has been done for the past nine years, but they need the help from Ermelo to be able to feed all the people and children this year.
