Ermelo residents say prune trees don’t ruin trees

He said: “While the world is fighting the effects of climate change and embarking on massive tree planting operations, Msukaligwa Municipality allows the removal of trees.”

Residents of Ermelo have recently complained to the Highvelder about municipal workers who allegedly cut trees in Kerk Street.

A resident who wants to stay anonymous said he is furious and can’t understand why old trees were removed.

He said: “While the world is fighting the effects of climate change and embarking on massive tree planting operations, Msukaligwa Municipality allows the removal of trees.”

Another resident complained that cedar trees near Standard Bank were also cut down.

One of her fondest memories is parking next to the trees in the shade and admiring the beauty thereof, while her family members were in the bank.

The Highvelder enquired at Msukaligwa Municipality about the reasons behind the removal of the trees, but no response was received at the time of publishing.
