Follow-up: Mandla from Msukaligwa Municipality comments on no water in Ex 7

“The department is in the process of sourcing the service of contractors to do an assessment of the bulk service and provision of internal sewer and water in Ext 7, Wesselton.

The Highvelder published an article ‘Forced to drink filthy water’, about residents in Ext 7 Wesselton, who do not have running water, on 19 July.

Msukaligwa Municipality members fill several Jojo tanks in the area once a week however, when the tanks run dry, residents use water from a near-by river.

The Highvelder sent media inquiries to Mr Mandla Zwane, spokesman from Msukaligwa Municipality.

“The municipality plans to resolve the issue as we have escalated the matter to Mpumalanga Department of Human Settlement.

“The department is in the process of sourcing the service of contractors to do an assessment of the bulk service and provision of internal sewage system and water in Ext 7, Wesselton.

Mr Zwane added, the municipality is not aware of a river in the area except a stream that flows to Douglas Dam.
