UPDATE – No bail for Breyten drug lab suspects

Their case was postponed to 21 October for further investigation.

Ermelo Magistrate’s Court denied bail to the seven suspects who were arrested in Breyten on 21 August, in connection with the manufacturing of mandrax, on 18 September.

The Highvelder first reported on the matter in its 30 August edition, Hawks clamp down, when a multi-million rand drug lab on a farm between Breyten and Carolina was shut down.

Police arrested seven suspects in Breyten and one in Diepkloof.

Messrs Rederick Barth (30), Mzingise Makoto (69), Vuyo Zigane (32), Bandile Zigane (35) Tokologo Maimene (29), Jabulani Dladla (46) and Tebogo Nkolwane (40) first appeared in the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on 22 August.

Ms Msewu Andronica Zigaga who was arrested in Diepkloof, appeared in the Protea Magistrate’s Court the same day she was arrested.
