A 37-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, attempted rape and kidnapping, in Mayflower, on 2 September.
According to Const Tryphinah Utla, spokesman for Mayflower Police, the suspect allegedly took his ex-girlfriend and her two-year-old son to his home.
Const Utla said: “The suspect assaulted and attempted to rape the victim, before she managed to escape to report the incident to police.”

She added that the suspect abandoned the child at The Brook Section.
Community members found the crying child in the street and contacted the police, who reunited the mother with her son.
The suspect first appeared in the Mayflower Periodical Court on 4 September and the case was postponed to 16 September for bail application.
