Residents recently helped themselves to fresh pineapples from a truck that overturned near Davel.
The truck was travelling from Ermelo to Bethal.
According to Const Portia Dhladhla, spokesman for Davel Police, the driver of the truck was startled by two trucks overtaking him.
He lost control over this vehicle while trying to avoid a head-on collision and the trailer overturned.
The incident occurred at about 12am.
The driver could not get hold of the police as the police station’s phone was not working.
The police went to the scene in the morning.
According to Const Dhladhla, Davel Police spokesman, one of the members from the truck company arrived and gave the community the go ahead to loot the produce.
