Truckers proceed with national protest on Mandela Day

Truckers began protesting on Havenga Street and the entrance of the N2 near Ermelo.

All Truck Drivers Foundation(ATDF) member embarked on planned national shutdown in Ermelo on 17 July.

Truckers began protesting in Havenga Street and the entrance of the N2 near Ermelo.

According to Capt Carla Prinsloo,Spokesman for Ermelo Police, police were on the scenes to monitor their activities.

She added that no violent incidents have been reported as of yet.

According to a Mr Gerhard Moll from Standerton, trucks are partially blocking the road on the R35 (Morgenzon to Bethal).

Vehicles are able to drive through, but Mr Moll advised farmers against sending their tractors or trucks to town as they might get pulled over and be stranded for the whole day or until the protesters disperse.
