Man in Carolina gets suspended sentence for possession of stolen property

A 46-year-old, Mr Jacob Kapo Nkosi, was sentenced on a charge of possession of suspected stolen property in the Carolina District Court on 9 July.

According to Const Thabang Mokwana, spokesman for Carolina Police, he was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment or a R50 000 fine.

The sentence was suspended for five years on the condition that he does not commit the same offense during this period.

Carolina Police were patrolling the town when they saw the accused carrying a brush cutter and confronted him.

Const Mokwana said: “He could not explain where the machine came from and did not know how to operate the machine.”

He was arrested on 20 December 2017.
