Working on Fire (WOF) recently celebrated their firefighters during Youth Month for striving for excellence.
According to Mr Linton Rensburg, head of communication at WOF, more than 85 per cent of the employees at WOF are from the age group 18 to 35.
The firefighters that were recruited were trained in fire awareness, education, fire prevention and fire suppression skills.
These firefighters fight on the average more than 2 000 fires annually.
Mr Rensburg said: “To many, the Working on Fire programme is not only a step out of poverty, but also provides a better life for their children and generations to come.”
