Ermelo’s Bongani Mbuli a rising soccer star

"To work hard and push yourself to accomplish goals can give you good results."

Ermelo born Bongani Mbuli is a local soccer star who is making his way up the ranks.

Mbuli remembers playing soccer at home with his neighbours when he was younger.

He began playing soccer for a local team in Wesselton called Eleven Men when he was nine years old.

He got his first pair of soccer boots after three months of playing for the team.

He played for them for about nine years.

Thereafter, he joined the Metropolitan soccer team while attending Lindile Secondary School.

While in high school, he was given the chance to represent several professional teams.

He played in the provincials for Mpumalanga U/19 and SAB U/21.

Thereafter he played for Lumoja F. C. for two season –  the first season for SAB and the second season for ABC Motshepe.

He captained the Nedbank Kiyona team  in 2016.

Mbuli signed a contract with WITS University for two years.

WITS loaned Mbuli to Cape Town All Stars for a year and  then to Free State Stars for the following  year.

His contract with Free State Stars will soon come to an end.

He believes that talent on its own is not enough.
