27-year-old man dies in mob-justice incident in Ermelo

Capt Carla Prinsloo, spokesman for Ermelo Police, said: “The man was beaten with sticks, sjamboks and stoned.”

A 27-year-old man died in the early hours of the morning in Ermelo Provincial Hospital.

According to capt Carla Prinsloo, spokesman for Ermelo Police, the man was beaten at  Extention 33 on 21 May.

Community members accused him of rape.

Capt Prinsloo said: “The man was beaten with sticks, sjamboks and stoned.”

She added that the police intervened and the man was taken to the hospital.

Ermelo Police urged anyone with information that can assist them with the case to contact Const ML Makwanazi at 082 373 8389 or alternatively at 017 819 2321.
