UPDATE: Police spokesman confirms deceased were from truck and BMW

According to information received, a diesel spillage has also occurred and the road will have to be closed in order for the scene to be cleaned up.

Capt Carla Prinsloo, spokesman for the Ermelo Police, confirmed that one of the deceased was a truck driver and the other deceased was the driver of a BMW.

ER24 personnel as well as other emergency services, arrived at the scene to find the vehicles and trucks scattered along the road.

According to Mr Russel Meiring, Communications Officer of ER24, one of the men was dead when paramedics found him trapped inside his vehicle.

The driver of one of the trucks was found trapped inside the cab of the truck.

Msukaligwa Fire and Rescue had to use the Jaws of Life to free him.

He was treated and provided with advanced life support intervention, however, according to Mr Meiring, his vital signs rapidly diminished and CPR was performed on him, but he also died.

Msukaligwa Fire and Rescue, members of the Traffic Department, towing services and the police are currently on the scene.

Aside from the diesel spillage, a coal truck has also lost its load.

Contractors of Sanral, Quality Control Group as well as Tolcon Road Patrol, are currently cleaning up the scene.

Two people died in an accident that occurred about 30km out on the Ermelo/Bethal Road, involving two trucks and three vehicles.

Some vehicles are being let through, but there is currently a traffic congestion.

According to information received, a diesel spillage has also occurred and the road will have to be closed in order for the scene to be cleaned up.
