Fire causes extensive damage to building in Carolina

Smoke filled up the skies in Voortrekker street, Carolina on Sunday afternoon.

A shop was engulfed in flames in Voortrekker Street in Carolina on 12 May.

According to Mr David Nhlabati, spokesman for Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality, it was the back store of the Usave shop that burned down.

However, Const Dumile Malaza, communications officer of the Carolina Police, informed the Highvelder that the initial comment of Mr Nhlabati, stating it was Usave that caught fire, was incorrect instead it was the General Store.

No injuries were reported.

The building of the General Store as well as stock were damaged in the fire.
