Man in Mayflower charged with murder and arson

Mayflower Police arrested the 37-year-old Bonginkosi Buthelezi in connection with three murders and arson on Thursday, 9 May at about 5pm.

According to Mayflower spokesman, Const Tryphinah Ulta, it alleged that the incident took place on Wednesday, 4 February 2015 at about 8.45pm in Mayflower B Section.

“The accused shot 48-year-old Phindile Sibanyoni, Mbali Sibanyoni (19) and a three-year-old minor Sphamandla Sibanyoni had set the house on fire with petrol bombs and left while the three others were inside.”

The suspect first appeared at Eerstehoek Magistrate Court on Friday, 9 May and the case was postponed until Friday, 17 May at Mayflower Periodically Court for further investigation.
