When the Highvelder visited the area, learners from nearby schools were walking near the flowing water and cars were looking for ways to avoid driving through the blood contaminated water.

The Highvelder first reported on the matter of bloody water flowing through the streets in Enyibe Ext 32 in 2013, followed-up in 2016 and yet again in 2018.

Workers from the abattoir gave the Highvelder a tour in 2018, outlining the processes involved when livestock are slaughtered, insights into the purification process as well as how and where blood is stored.

Read more about the inquiries made to the Msukaligwa Municipality about their plan to ensure that the problem is resolved and to avoid re-occurrences in future in this week’s Highvelder.
