A member of Ermelo Police was shot in his right leg by unknown suspects on Friday, 8 March at about 7.30am.
The police officer was off duty when he received a call from a family member asking for his help after they claimed they had been robbed.
The officer arrived at open veld next to Mpumalanga stadium, when the suspects fired a shot at him and he fell to the ground.
He fired back at the suspects but did not injure anyone.
The suspects fled on foot.
Ermelo Police are investigating a case of attempted murder.
