Man hands himself in after another man dies from stab wound in Phosa Village, Breyten

A man was arrested after he handed himself over to the police a few minutes after the incident and the police are investigating a case of murder.

A man was found lying in a pool of blood in Phosa Village, Breyten on Tuesday, 12 February.

According to Breyten Police spokesman, Sgt Thabo Mashegoene, the police received a complaint around 6am, Tuesday morning and when they went to investigate, they found the man.

“The man had a stab wound on his upper body and was certified dead by emergency services who had arrived at the scene,” Sgt Mashegoane said.

A man was arrested after he handed himself in to the police a few minutes after the incident. The police are investigating a case of murder.

The motive for the murder is still unknown but according to information at the police’s disposal, the suspect who handed himself in, returned to his house, where the incident took place, and a fight broke out after he found the victim there.

The suspect first appeared in Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 13 February.

He appeared again in the Breyten Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 15 February and his case was postponed to Friday, 1 March.

According to police, the suspect is remanded in custody.
