Sandile Mashele receives 12 years for murder of Nomcebo Mokoena

Mashele was sentenced for the murder of Ms Nomcebo Mokoena, who was stabbed at her flat in Wesselton on 16 December 2017.

Sandile Mashele was found guilty and sentenced to 12 years in prison for the murder of Nomcebo Mokoena on Friday, 8 February at the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court.

Mashele was charged with the murder of Ms Mokoena, who was stabbed at her flat in Wesselton on 16 December 2017.

He fled the scene and was on the run until he handed himself over the police in early January 2018.

It is alleged Mr Mashele was Ms Mokoena’s ex-boyfriend at the time.

The incident brought widespread condemnation from the Wesselton community, who organised marches against Mashele whenever he would appear in court.
