Mayflower woman face murder charge for hiring two men to assault an ‘alleged criminal’

It is alleged the 36-year-old Lindiwe Pretty Nkosi brought two men from Middelburg to come and discipline Mr Nkosi, who she caught breaking and entering her house in Redhill.

A woman was arrested and charged for the murder of Phoyisana Bafana Nkosi on Monday, 21 January in Mayflower.

The accused was arrested after a thorough investigation by the Mayflower Police.

It is alleged the 36-year-old Lindiwe Pretty Nkosi brought two men from Middelburg to come and discipline Mr Nkosi, who she caught breaking and entering her house in Redhill.

According to police reports, the deceased died from being assaulted for almost three hours and hanged upside down with a rope.

The accused tried to cover up the murder.

“The accused tried to take the deceased’s body with the aim of hiding it and instructed one of her family members, who had insurance with the deceased, to conduct a private funeral by sending the body to a private mortuary without informing the police,” Mayflower Police spokesman, Const Tryphina Utla said.

Const Utla added that the accused changed the clothes on the body so the assault would not easily be seen.

The accused first appeared in the Mayflower Periodical Court on Monday, 21 January.

She appeared again on Wednesday, 23 January and was released on R1 000 bail.

The accused will appear again on 27 February.

The police urge community members not to take the law into their own hands and to report matters to the police to get assistance.
