43-year-old woman stabbed to death in KwaMabuza informal settlement

“Her sister was waiting outside to give them the opportunity to talk in private when she heard her screaming,” said Capt Carla Prinsloo, spokesperson of Ermelo Police.

Ermelo Police are investigating a case of murder after the 43-year-old, Ms Phumzile Hlatswayo was killed on Wednesday, 16 January.

The incident happened in KwaMabuza informal settlement. According to her sister, Ms Hlatswayo’s boyfriend came to their house during the morning and requested to speak to her.

“Her sister was waiting outside to give them the opportunity to talk in private, when she heard her screaming,” said Capt Carla Prinsloo, spokesman of Ermelo Police.

The sister rushed back and found Ms Hlatswayo lying on the floor with various stab wounds to her body.

The suspect fled the scene.

A 35-year-old man was arrested in Extention 1 in Wesselton.

According to the sister, Ms Hlatswayo recently obtained a protection order against the suspect.

Ermelo Police are requesting anyone with information that can assist the police with the investigation to contact Constable BP Masina at 017 819 2321/8 or alternatively at 082 373 8389.
