Local art and drama organisations painted the classrooms at the Peter Mabuza Primary School as part of an international volunteer campaign on Wednesday, 12 December.

The three organisations, Kasi Development, Cinisela Art Productions and Ligwa FM took part in the campaign that was initiated by the National Youth Development Fund (NYDA) and is usually held on 5 December every year.

The aim of the initiative is to give back to the community and the drama and art circles in Ermelo, took to the task readily.

“We have seen that art and drama projects changes communities as children take part and are occupied, preventing them from taking to the streets and be impacted with negative influences so what better way than for us than to give back by making the place where they spend most of their young life, better looking,” Ms Gugu Mabuza, Cinisela Art Productions deputy chairman, said.

We really like to extend our gratitude to the school principal, teachers and SGB of the school for allowing us to give back to the community.

The three organisations took the opportunity to promote youth volunteering, create a positive impact and image in the community and are also planning to come up with more programs that will impact the community at large.
