Msukaligwa Police get recognition at Excellence awards

Police from the Msukaligwa circuit received recognition and scooped awards in different categories.

The men in blue were acknowledged at the Mpumalanga Excellence Awards in Mbombela on 17 November.

Police from the Msukaligwa Cluster received recognition and scooped awards in different categories.

W/O Chantelle Strydom from the Ermelo Police received a silver award in the Sport Star of the Year category.

She was chosen in 2017 to represent Mpumalanga at the South African Police Service National Practical Pistol Shooting Championship in Welkom, where she achieved a second place.

At the beginning of 2018 she was a member of the SAPS National team that participated in the Inter-Forces National Championships, where she took nine 1st places and a second place for various stages. She also won the Best Ladies Shooter overall.

Cpt Wayne Duranty from the Ermelo Police was rewarded with gold in the Person with Disability of the Year. The captain became disabled after a motorcycle accident in 2005.

He was promoted to Captain in 2011 and placed at the Community Service Centre as Relief Commander.

He continued to work shifts and setting an example for other members.

He is described as a member who is always willing to assist where he can and never used his disability as an excuse.

W/O Thabo Nhlabathi from the Davel Police was the first runner-up in the award for Administration Team Leader of the Year.

The Davel Support Team, lead by W/O Nhlabathi performed admirably in the previous financial year and went the extra mile to meet deadlines and produce quality work.

Const IB Zulu from the Carolina Police received an award in the Sportstar of the Year category.

The constable is a star athlete and has received a number of awards for athletics and soccer, including gold medals and a silver medal in the 100m race at the Inter Academy

Championship and Tshwane National Championship respectively.

Maintenance Apprentice HA Le Roux from the Sheepmoor Police was awarded in the Administration Employee of the Year Level 1 to 4.

During the previous year Mr Le Roux went beyond the call of duty and the police station saved a lot of money on a day-to-day maintenance because he did the plumbing, electrical work and fixed all the damages to the station.
