Khuthala Environmental Care Group hosts its inaugural environmental awareness festival at Khuthala Park

It was unanimously agreed upon that all in attendance demand urgent actions to be taken to clean the air, stop the polluting of water, stop the destruction of the environment, alternate renewable energy and access to information from private an public institutions, particularly mines, on what they are doing to the land.

The Khuthala Environmental Care Group hosted its inaugural environmental awareness festival at the Khutala Park on Saturday, 13 October.

Various speakers from across the country were in attendance, including Groundwork, WoMin, Reclaim Ermelo and the Centre for Environmental Rights.

The speakers made presentations with the running theme being basic human rights, including the right to quality education, a clean environment, clean water, social security, adequate housing, clean air and women’s rights.

It was unanimously agreed that all in attendance demand urgent action to be taken to clean the air, stop the polluting of water, stop the destruction of the environment, alternate renewable energy and access to information from private and public institutions, particularly mines, on what they are doing to the land.

The festival goers were also entertained with live performances on stage.
