Inmates from Ermelo Correctional Services win arts competition in Volksrust

Inmates from the local centre competed against Bethal, Volksrust, Standerton and Piet Retief Correctional Centres, wowing the judges with their artwork and craftsmanship to take the number one spot.

Ermelo Correctional Services Centre won the region’s art competition after defeating other correctional centres in the region at the competition held at the Volksrust Correctional Services Centre recently.

Inmates from the local centre competed against Bethal, Volksrust, Standerton and Piet Retief Correctional Centres, wowing the judges with their artwork and craftsmanship.

According to Mr Ronnie Nhlapho, head educationalist at the centre, the Department of Correctional Services is committed to use art as a form of rehabilitation so that inmates can express themselves and return to society as changed men.
