Ermelo Police are investigating an armed robbery after three suspects entered a shop in Ermelo that belongs to a Phakistani on Sunday, 16 September at 7am with the intent to rob the business.
A bystander became suspicious and called for help. The suspects fled the scene and were chased by passing taxi drivers in their taxis.
The suspects fired at the taxi drivers and one taxi was damaged.
The owner of the business chased one suspect and trapped him with his vehicle. The suspect accidentally shot himself in the foot.
One suspect was traced to a nearby house by members of a local security company.
He was shot in the chest during his apprehension.
The third suspect could not be found. The injured suspects were treated at the hospital and were released into police custody.
