Former executive mayor of Gert Sibande District Municipality (GSDM), Mr Meshack Nhlabathi, died last week.
Mr Nhlabathi joined GSDM in 2011 as a member of the mayoral committee, leading one of the Section 80 portfolio committees for the 2011 to 2016 term of office.
He was appointed as executive mayor in 2012 until he retired at the end of the term.
GSDM staff will remember him for his unwavering commitment to the government of the ruling party, his zeal to see GSDM becoming a well-developed municipality, his wisdom and his humour.
