Mayflower Police arrest two for possession of dagga

Dagga with a street value of R25 000 confiscated.

Two men were arrested for possession of marijuana on the Dundonald and Waverly road in Mayflower on Sunday, 15 July.

According to Mayflower Police’s spokesman, Const Tryphina Utla, two police officers from the Waverly port of entry were patrolling the Glenmore and Dundonald road at 14.55pm when they saw two suspicious-looking men walking on the road carrying bags.

“The police stopped in their marked vehicle, introduced themselves and requested permission to search their bags,” Const Utla said.

She said one of the suspects was found with three rolls of the drug wrapped in brown tape in his bag, weighing 3.56kg with a street value of R10 000.

The other suspect was found with two rolls of the drug wrapped in brown tape, weighing 4.4kg with a street value of R15 000.

The two suspects appeared in the Mayflower Periodical Court on Monday, 16 July.

The case was postponed to 8 August and the suspects are remanded in custody.
