Three people robbed in Wesselton after hitching a ride

Three people were robbed of their belongings on 18 May when they were given a lift by a motorist.

Three people were robbed of their belongings last Friday, 18 May when they were given a lift by a motorist in Wesselton.

According to the police spokesman, Capt Carla Prinsloo, the robbery occurred at about 6pm when the complainant and his two friends accepted the lift.

“There was already one passenger in the car who requested that the motorist stop at the cemetery to pick up another person,” Capt Prinsloo said.

When the vehicle stopped, the passenger pointed a firearm at the complainant and his friends.

“The three victims were robbed of a cell phone and R1 600 and were left at the cemetery when the suspects drove off.”

Ermelo Police are investigating a case of robbery.
